1. 'If standards in recruitment are to rise, then clients and candidates need to stop paying for / using 'cowboy' recruiters'.
2. 'Are even 'cowboy' recruiters worse that the bankers and other professionals who got involved with the likes of Enron, WorldCom, etc. Could a 'cowboy' recruiter hold his own against all those silly subprime bankers and gullible CEOs who were responsible for their firms and shareholders losing billions ?'.
3. 'Although I go about my duties in a professional manner, it will be a while yet before I acknowledge publicly that I'm a recruitment consultant'.
4. 'The 'cowboy recruiter' has done the right thing by riding off into the sunset - the industry will be better off with him having done so'.
5. 'As the shake-out in the markets continues, two types of recruiter will remain - the very good and the very bad. The good recruiters survive because they are just that. The bad will endure through dogged determination. Some of the casualties will be the ethically-minded types. No-one said that the City was a walk in the park'.
