Many firms like Citi, Lehman Brothers and UBS are now paying an increasing amount of year-end bonus for senior staff in deferred equity. This not only conserves much-needed cash, but acts as a retention tool for key staff.

We asked our readers whether they would be put off joining a firm if restricted equity was a relatively large proportion of a year-end bonus.

Here are the results of this quick poll:

83.9% of respondents said that they would think twice about joining a firm where restricted equity was a relatively large proportion of a year-end bonus.

10.3% said it would make no difference

5.8% said that this was good reason for joining a firm
