Here are a few reader comments on the article published a few days back, authored by a banker who said that he would rather be laid-off than be 'asked' to take a pay cut.

1. 'The author should try being unemployed for 6 months and then see what he prefers!'.

2. 'Because there are very few better options out there, accepting a lower salary may be the best rational alternative for most people'.

3. 'Now, more than ever before, is not the time to play a game of chicken with your employer'.

4. 'I cannot relate to these sentiments. I was laid-off and have been out of work for 6 months. Knowing what I know now, I'd gladly take a 50% pay-cut to remain on the payroll'.

5. 'Take whatever stand you like, but I think it pays to listen to your employer and understand what needs to be done'.

6. 'Stick to your guns. Stand up for yourself - no-one else will!'.

7. 'I completely agree with the author. I have a friend who agreed to take a pay cut and was later fired. He then had a problem getting his full redundancy entitlement!!'.

8. 'This article is an understandable emotional reaction, but the rest of us couldn't care less about what this guy does. We're more concerned with covering our own a.ses!'.
