Grace said: 'All the attention is a little overwhelming. The first installment of my story was the most read at Here Is The City last week - apparently unheard of for a story that did not lead. I'm going to try to reply to every e-mail, but I don't plan on going on any dates or getting married just yet!'.
Here's a selection from the E-Mails Grace has received:
1. 'This is ...... from India, many many miles away from where you are. I just chanced upon your blog, and I found your honesty rather touching. This note is just to wish you all the best! May you find true, enduring success in your life'.
2. 'I have recently resigned from an investment bank, and am looking for some part-time work, but this sounds a little too pervy!'.
3. 'I'm really sad that you've driven yourself to this. No woman should be reduced to this'.
4. 'Great read. Can't wait for the next edition'.
5. 'Thanks for brightening up my day with your tales in Here Is The City. Highly amusing and very admirable also'.
6. 'I might be joining you in 3 months, except I'm male and not particularly good looking. Do you think that matters ?'.
7. 'Any chance that we worked together during your Lehman days ? SalesStation ?'.
8. 'I am really touched by your story - can we meet up so that I can touch you!'.
9. 'If you ever find yourself in Europe, give me a shout. This could be the start of something special!'.
10. 'If you want to get out of the rat race altogether, why not run off with me into the sunset to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Greece ? I am single and seeking (hint, hint). I'm also starting my own hedge fund and, although we're not fully funded yet, it does have certain potential!'.
11. 'I really liked your story. I used to work around the corner from you at UBS in whole loans, and also got laid-off right at the beginning of 2008. I'd still like to get into a small firm, though I'm looking at other sectors as well.
Funny thing about your story is that the traders used to push us to hit the strip bars, but I always thought it was a waste of money, and never went. Perhaps I should have gone for the experience!'.
