US judicial authorities have had to move Bernie Madoff's sentencing hearing to a bigger Court Room to accomodate the media and the large number of disgruntled investors who are expected to turn up.

Madoff's sentencing has now been pushed back 13 days until June 29th, and investors who wish to speak at the hearing are being asked to e-mail the US Attorney's Office and outline what they want to say.

In the meantime, Irving Picard, Madoff's bankruptcy Trustee, has said that he expects settlements in the coming weeks with a number of parties who have been accused of complicity or negligence over the Madoff affair, including several fund of hedge funds and investors who got paid out under the Ponzi scheme before it collapsed.

The Trustee is also said to have teamed up with Federal authorities to see if he can clawback some of the assets from Madoff's wife and family. The New York Post reports that some $93m in assets belonging to Mrs Madoff (including homes, boats and cars) have already been identified for forfeiture.

Picard has recovered around $1bn to date, out of the estimated $65bn that the fraudster is said to have fleeced from investors. The claims from victims of Madoff have now increased to over 9,000.
