The Daily Mail reports that 35-year-old Goldman Sachs Managing Director Yann Samuelides is said to have offered Alzbeta Holmokova, a 28-year-old Slovakian woman (who The Daily Telegraph alleges was 'a former escort girl) $820,000 if she would leave her pensioner husband and marry him. The banker is even said to have threatened to kill himself if Ms Holmokova didn't agree to his demand.
Denis Morley, Ms Holmokova's 67-year-old husband apparently didn't want Mr Samuelides to come to any harm (the banker is said to have been giving the wife loads of goodies), so agreed that she should keep seeing him. The husband later changed his mind, and admitted that he once threatened to kill the banker.
Ms Holmokova has sued for divorce on the grounds of Mr Morley's unreasonable behaviour (he, apparently, was the one being 'unreasonable'). Mr Morley, however, doesn't appear to think that his wife's behaviour was that unreasonable, as he is contesting the divorce. Mr Samuelides and Ms Holmokova attended Monday's divorce hearing in London together (how sweet).
Mr Morley claims that Ms Holmokova will not actually get the $820,000 unless she marries Mr Samuelides - hence the divorce action. How romantic!
The case was adjourned until October.
