According to the newspaper, however, the report is more critical of some of Pandit's top deputies, which may raise questions about his judgement in having them in these roles in the first place.
And The Financial Times reports that Finger Interests Number One, which owns over a million shares in Bank of America, has launched a campaign to prevent the bank's board from naming either Brian Moynihan or Greg Curl, both BofA insiders, as a successor to departing CEO Ken Lewis.
The so-called 'dissidents' have pointed out in a filing with US regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission that the bank's senior executives remain under investigation by both the agency and New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, and asks: 'In the ongoing investigations, how can the board of directors be certain that neither individual will be charged or implicated in wrongdoing ?'.
Finally, The New York Post is reporting that Jon Finger feels that the only credible candidate for the job among the BofA insiders is Sallie Krawcheck, as, being new, she is untainted by the Merrill Lynch acquisition. Many market commentators believe, however, that Ms Krawcheck lacks the depth of experience required to take over from Lewis, and the smart money is now on an external candidate.
