A London jury found that Ellerbeck, 46, strangled his wife in a rage, but had not intended to kill her. Mrs Ellerbeck is said to have sustained 45 injuries, 19 of which were to her head. Ellerbeck will be sentenced later today.
The Guardian reports that former Enron CEO Jeff Skilling, currently serving a 24-year jail sentence for Enron-related crimes, has been given leave to appeal his sentence to the US Supreme Court.
And The Financial Times reports that JPMorgan's top executives are said to have launched a charm offensive, trying to convince London-based staff that the 'ousting' of co-investment banking head Bill Winters (who was based in London) doesn't mean that the focus of the firm will shift to the US and Asia. According to the newspaper, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon made a surprise visit to London last week in an effort to convince top managers that the City (and Europe) 'remain crucial to the bank's future'.
The Daily Telegraph reports that six former senior Lehman Brothers EMEA bankers are claiming around $110m in bonus and stock option awards from the bank's administrator. The bankers named in the claim documents are said to be Riccardo Banchetti, Kieran Higgins, Georges Assi, David Bozer, Harsh Shah and Giancarlo Saronne.
Finally, The New York post reports that two prospective jurors in the trial of Bear Stearns hedge fund execs Ralph Cioffi and Matthew Tannin have been dismissed for bias against the defendants. Cioffi and Tannin are standing trial on securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy charges.
