3. JPMorgan Chase - $2.4bn profit ($2.97bn profit)

4 Societe Generale - $1.71bn profit ($4.97bn loss)

5. Morgan Stanley - $1.55bn profit ($3.56bn loss)

6. Goldman Sachs - $1.51bn profit ($3.17bn profit)

7. Bank of America - $1.21bn profit ($268m profit)

8. Lehman Brothers - $489m profit ($886m profit)

9. Northern Trust - $231.7m profit ($125m profit)

Q1 LOSERS

1. UBS - $10.99bn loss ($11.3bn loss)

2. Citi - $5.11bn loss ($9.83bn loss)

3. Credit Suisse - $2.15bn loss ($1.21bn profit)

4. Merrill Lynch - $1.97bn loss ($9.8bn loss)

5. Dresdner Kleinwort - $889m loss

6. Deutsche Bank - $205m loss ($1.39bn profit)
