That Won't Last' Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis decided it was prudent to release the bank's third-quarter earnings a couple of weeks early. Profit fell 68% to $1.18bn in the period. In order to get ready for the impending $50bn 'merger' with Merrill Lynch, Lewis also cut the bank's dividend in half, and said that he would be raising $10bn in a common stock offering.
