A list of 'Hot Jobs', published by Business 2.0 Magazine, shows that IT positions are the most likely to see to sharp growth, both in demand and wages, despite the concerns over outsourcing.
Unless you're in India or China the chances are that school children in your area are not being actively encouraged to train in IT, but, that's exactly what the list of the 10 fastest growing jobs suggests. Five out of the top six jobs expected to show the highest growth through to 2014 are IT positions, not only that, they are also highly paid positions.
There is a rising black hole of IT skills and this is reflected in the list. The five IT positions listed are those not neccessarily suited to outsourcing, either, because they are on-site dependant, business integrated, or just very highly skilled. With fewer graduates entering the system, potentially put off by the bad outsourcing press, and baby boomers due for retirement, supply is not expected to meet demand in certain IT fields.
The other two main sectors listed are education and healthcare.
The full list looks like this, with the job title, job growth through to 2014 and current average salary shown.
